Moore Ruble Yudell is a design and planning team united by a passion for deep client engagement that informs dynamic placemaking. We respond to the social, ecological, and physical context of each project and embrace research and technology to create joyful places and vibrant communities ready for resilient futures. This ethos guides our design, practice, and project management processes today as it has since our founding in 1977.
We have a particular passion for residential work and have had the opportunity to design a number of carefully selected residential projects, working intimately with the client through all phases of design and construction. Our work varies in response to site, climate and the dreams and aspirations of our clients, and celebrates the relation between building, landscape, and the act of inhabitation.

Our work in post-fire areas emphasizes integrated strategies that strengthen building performance, enhance occupant safety, and restore ecological health. Guided by lessons from recent fires and a commitment to climate-responsive design, we pair site responsive architectural design with resilient systems—spanning building envelope, site design, energy water independence, and fire-adaptive landscapes.

Our design approach prioritizes site-specific, fire-adaptive design. A new Pacific Palisades home breaking ground in 2026 steps with the terrain to maximize views and daylight while maintaining a compact, resilient form. A loft-like main floor links to garden-defined defensible space, with a gallery stair lighting the upper rooms. Setbacks reduce radiant heat. Integrated systems include roof-mounted fire suppression system, onsite emergency cistern, solar backup, native drought-tolerant, fire-resilient planting, and durable, low-combustible materials.
